Mirror of the Text
In Genesis 2:15 the human is placed in the garden to work it and keep it. Both duties matter: cultivation develops what has been entrusted, while keeping guards against loss and neglect. Psalm 24:1 places the earth and its fullness under the ownership of יהוה. Stewardship therefore differs from unrestricted possession.
Lamp of the Watchman
A research archive also needs cultivation and keeping. New material must be developed, but records, variants, sources, and corrections must be preserved. When a calculation is revised, the earlier value should not be hidden as though it never existed. An honest record shows the path of investigation and protects the reader from unwarranted certainty.
Watchman’s Charge
Tend what has been entrusted to you. Preserve the evidence, name the uncertainty, and leave the record stronger for the next seeker.
