BEFORE יהוה, YOU SHALL BE CLEAN

Leviticus 16:30 places the center of Yom Kippur in cleansing before יהוה. The Day of Atonements is not merely a fast; it is an ordered movement of atonement, purification, confession, removal, cessation, and restored sacred access. The text confronts impurity directly and points toward the possibility of being made clean.

טהר — cleanse / purify
ענה — afflict / humble
שַׁבַּת שַׁבָּתוֹן — Sabbath of complete cessation
Yom Kippur joins atonement, cleansing, self-affliction, cessation, confession, and removal.
WATCHMAN’S REFLECTION
Yom Kippur asks more than whether the body has fasted. It asks what must be confessed, what disorder must be removed, what must cease, and what it means to stand before יהוה clean. The movement is from exposure toward purification, from burden toward removal, and from disorder toward restored sacred order.
